Would recommend for a little mini adventure without the poisoned bite some fairytale/fantasy books can have. I am very interested in seeing where this author takes the story. I bought the next book coming out immediately after finishing this one.

These felt a little used, but the action was riveting and Etta was a great heroine. Typical plot and theme, forbidden love, king who feels betrayed, but actually betrays people with less power because he is afraid, people afraid of what they don’t understand, mindless following, but not questioning until it is too late. I loved the characters and the story line. “Quick read, but was not rushed or lacking in details or world building. An exciting read and wonderful start to a series! Highly Recommend.” From the beginning all the way to the end there is constant action propelling the story forward, and about the time you think you’re going to catch your breath another twist happens, expertly crafted, to make you rethink your opinions of certain characters and your thoughts on how you think the story is going to unfold. I thought I would nestle in and have another night full of reading only to find I’d read WAY more than I thought I did the first night and only had four pages left in the book! I wanted more! Good thing it is book one in a series! I am officially hooked and HAVE to know what happens. But I guess that could be considered a good thing.
